Find out about this model
The Ford Ranger is a tradition that continues. The midsize pickup truck was a hit for many decades before disappearing from the market. It made a stunning comeback in 2019 and has continued to impress ever since.
For 2021, the Ford Ranger offers a few changes and new options that will make the truck even more efficient. Of the number, and arguably the most important change is the presence of a Tremor package that comes to maximize the truck's off-road capabilities.
This adventure package adds Fox 2.0 shocks with longer travel, 32-inch Continental General Grabber tires and various styling options. All of this is based on a truck that's already brimming with many great features.
The Tremor's interior has been redesigned with exclusive stitched seats but retains the comfort and accessories of the Ranger. To facilitate off-road control, ground clearance has been increased, approach angles have been improved, and suspension travel has been increased.
For those who would opt for a quieter version, here are some of the features of the 2021 Ford Ranger that make it indispensable to enthusiasts.
The 2021 Ranger doesn't use aluminum body panels like its larger F-series siblings. This does not prevent it from offering exceptional resistance to corrosion.
To propel it, the mid-size truck relies on a single engine. It's a turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. Similar versions are used in the Ford Mustang, among others.
Thus equipped, the Ford Ranger develops 270 horsepower. But it's its 310 lb-ft of torque that makes it stand out. The engine is associated with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Several versions are available. The Ranger XL, XLT and Lariat are available. Only extended cab configurations are available in either a SuperCab or the larger SuperCrew cab.
An FX4 option package is also available. Also geared toward off-roading, the FX4 is equipped with underbody skid plates and an exposed steel skid plate. It also features a terrain management system with five driving modes: Normal; Grass; Sand; Gravel and Snow; and Mud and Ruts.
The FX4 is also equipped with Trail Control. This new technology is like cruise control for low- speed off-roading. It takes over acceleration and braking to allow the driver to concentrate on driving over rough terrain.
The Ford Ranger offers a payload of 748 kg (1,650 lbs) and a towing capacity of up to 3,402 kg (7,500 lbs), depending on maximum configurations.
The Ford Ranger has many safety and comfort features. The interior provides ample passenger space, and there are many accessories to make the ride more enjoyable. This includes the B&O audio system, and Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatibility offered with the Sync3 system. The FordPass app completes the package, with its remote access.
On the safety front, the 2021 Ford Ranger features the CoPilot360 package, a grouping of technologies to help keep occupants safe. These include a forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking.
Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist, parking assistance that detects objects and a blind spot warning with trailer coverage are also among the available systems. Pedestrian detection and adaptive cruise control are also available on select models.
Stylish, versatile and safe, the 2021 Ford Ranger is more than ever the truck that can meet the needs of enthusiasts.
